Monuments thread
To get some order into the construction of monuments, here is our monument administration thread.
Announce ideas for monuments, ask for permission to start monuments so I can assign a location etc.
To ask people that started building a monument if you can join in, please use the ingame mail plugin (the one that says "You have X new mails" when you log in).
So far, we have Sparticalus is constructing the lighthouse of Alexandria.
As we only need one monument to advance, that is enough for now. What you guys can do until we need monuments again is to dig the mine entrance down to layer 12 and start a branch mine there (1x2 shafts with 2 blocks between them).
Future ideas for monuments are:
If you have more ideas or if you have detailed plans or ideas how to construct one of the above mentioned, do share please, we're a community after all.

Future ideas for monuments are:
- Library of Alexandria; I bought enough sugar cane to make 32 bookshelves today and I'm sure I can arrange more deals with the Nords, so this will be our next monument to take care of.
- The great Pyramids of Gizeh; 3 large pyramids, including interiors with traps and other funny things.
- The temple of Luxor
- The Sphinx; richly ornated and of an adequate size, this one should be valid for our advance to Capital once we get there
- Abu Simbel; plans have been around since R2, finally wanna pull that one off
If you have more ideas or if you have detailed plans or ideas how to construct one of the above mentioned, do share please, we're a community after all.

Re: Monuments thread
It's basically a massive complex of monuments. I think if we build it step by step we should be able to get a just score for it.
Added Abu Simbel to the first post.

I know I'm in the wrong thread, but isn't the temple in Luxor named Abu simbel?

Re: Monuments thread
I will divide the Luxor complex into sensible parts so we can build it step by step instead of having a huge project without knowing when we're gonna finish it, if we're to finish it, even.
But for now, I will try to watch The Fellowhship of the Ring without falling asleep in the first 30 minutes again.

I'd like to make the pyramids on the outskirts of the city, it would be fun to make it a challenge to get to the tomb room inside

Re: Monuments thread
Yeah I already thought we could make a pyramid with challenges, but we'll star with Luxor after we got everything into shape for now.tissuemaster wrote:I'd like to make the pyramids on the outskirts of the city, it would be fun to make it a challenge to get to the tomb room inside

Re: Monuments thread
I came up with an Idea for the placement a monument, what if we build the temple of Ra behind the tree farm?
why? becouse Ra literarely means Sun, and then I think it would be a good idea to have it on the side if the town where the sun rizes (that wil be the tree farm or behind it)
I know it is a while till we will build it since it is one of the capitol requirements, but i think we should decide the placement now.

Re: Monuments thread
I had another place in mind for the temple of Ra.
I want it to be next to the storehouse, at the plaza. Ra is our god, so we shouldn't hide him behind the tree farm.

Re: Monuments thread
I was really thinking of moving the farm, but i just used it as a referance to the area.
sorry for poor explanation

Re: Monuments thread
Well, I wat the temple to be a main feature of the city. Since the Plaza has all the important buildings (town hall, mine, storage), I think we should have it there. Also, I want it to face east towards the morning sun, so replacing the tree farm would mean it shows its back to the city, not the smartest placement, you will agree.

Re: Monuments thread
ok when you put it that way...
reminded me, how about two minature sphinx on each side of the river facing the sunrise to greet it
my idea for this is from the egyptians themselves, there are actually two sphinx (really many more, but one equal to the famous one) but the other one has faded away "sadly"

Pyramid of Giza
I think in the near future we may be building the pyramids of Giza. A reasonably sized pyramid would be in between 25x25 to 50x50. The 25x25 would require 625 blocks of sandstone for the exterior and for the 50x50 it is 2500. clearly we should work to put more resources in the public storehouse.

Re: Monuments thread
Took me a half an hour, but I POSTED THE PLAN.
This is the bottom layer, 16 blocks in height.
This is the tomb room on the top floor
The solid black stuff is a door.

Re: Monuments thread
Actually I was thinking of a classic approach, resembling the Great Pyramid of Giza, and improving it with some funny possibilities minecraft gives us (arrow traps, falling sand, secret doors etc.):
